Purpose
The Devo track is designed to provide meaningful racing opportunities for Junior E skaters (ages 7–10) while maintaining developmental consistency with the standard 111.12m track. It reduces straightaway length while preserving the full-size turn radius, ensuring both accessibility and ease of implementation for clubs. Emphasis remains on skills, racing strategies, speed, and fun, rather than time records. USS will implement this track at Short Track AGN for Junior E skaters and encourages the use of this track at all other USS sanctioned races.

Track Layout
The diagram above shows the standard track of 111.12m in black dots. To implement the Devo Track, use the purple, green, and red dots as shown. If you have less than 5 tracks, we recommend setting the blocks on the innermost track.
Recommended Distances & Format based on AGN distances for Junior E
• Individual Races: 333m and 500m on the 111.12m track, and one longer distance (7L) on the Devo track. For regional competitions, distances are decided by the Meet Director.
• Starts: Use regular start lines. For example, when running the 7-lap race on the Devo track, skaters will start on the side opposite the 500m start line, so no adjustments are required for the referees.
• Times of distances skated on the Devo track can be posted in the competition protocol but cannot be used as qualifying times. If posted, the results should indicate that the times were skated on the Devo track and specify the rink location.
• The Devo track is designed for Junior E skaters and younger, but it is also suitable for skaters with comparable skill levels. As such, it is strongly recommended that meet directors use this track for ability-based competitions for athletes who do not meet the Junior E AGN qualification time standards of 59.99 seconds.
