    Join us for the first qualifying event for the US Speedskating athletes as they race for spots on the World Tour and Fall Short Track teams - including the Junior World Cup squad.
    Catch our national Team skaters flying on 17-inch blades at speeds of 33 miles per hour.

    Admission is just $10 at the door for a front-row seat to the action. Be there to witness the start of an incredible speedskating season!

    Format: All-Finals - Elimination

    This event will serve as qualifying event for selecting the US Short Track World Tour Team.

    Please note that the ZERO-FALSE-START rule will be in place.

    This event is open to skaters who hold a US citizenship and are eligible to represent the United States at international competitions.

    NOTE: Age limit is 14 as of July 1st, 2025  to enter the competition. Age limit for A-Group is 17 as of July 1st 2025.


    Entry Deadline:

    September 2nd at 5pm MT

    Entry Fee: $125

    Late entries accepted until September 8th  5pm MT. A $100 late entry fee charge will apply.

    Preliminary Schedule:

    Thursday: 11:30-2pm*

    Time Trial – Skate in day for skaters not amongst the top 16 Overall National Ranking

    Friday: 11:00-4:00pm*

    1500m #1 & 500m #1 – Qualifying Rounds and Finals

    Saturday: 11:00-5:00pm*

     1000m #1 & 1500m #2 – Qualifying Rounds and Finals

    Sunday: 9:00-5:00pm*

    500m #2 & 1000m #2 – Qualifying Rounds and Finals

    Coaches Meeting:

    Wednesday, September 10th: 5:30pm

    A Zoom link will be sent to all eligible and current coaches named by their athletes during the registration process.


    Official Training:

    Official Training is available complimentary on

    Thursday, September 11h  3:45pm-4:30pm

    Safety Equipment:

    All USS member skaters are required to wear full-body cut-resistant protection (either integrated into the skinsuit or separate underwear). Please take note of ISU Communication #2636 and that USS will follow the ISU’s guidance regarding the level of mandatory and recommended equipment for the 2025-2026 season.
    1.USS Selection Competitions

    Mandatory required minimum: full-body cut-resistant Level 3 suit and cut resistant Level 3 gloves.

    2. Eye protection. All skaters are required to wear appropriate safety eye protection. Eye protection should be shatter-resistant glasses or a complete visor (as per ISU comm 2636). A safety strap to hold the eyeglasses is recommended.

    USS will do random checks to inspect the equipment of skaters at the event. Cut resistant racing suite must cover properly and entirely the neck. Skaters with inadequate neck protection will be required to wear an extra neck protector or will not be allowed to start. f

    Eligibility:

    • 14 years of age before July 1st 2025
    • Eligible to represent the US at international competition
    • Skaters who are not eligible to compete for the US are not permitted

    Qualifying Time Standard:

    Women: 48.500

    Men: 46.000

    *times have to be achieved according to point F) 1. In the USS Rules & Regulations

    Group A will be open to athletes age 17+ as of July 1st. Group B will be open to athletes younger but at least age 14+ as of July 1st.


    Athletes selected to a USS travel team need to be prepared to show proof of a current Athlete Physical Exam Form as outlined. Proof will have to presented at Athlete Processing immediately following the qualifying competition and cannot be older than 365 days.


    Athlete Check-In:

    All athletes are required to pick up their helmet cover and transponders either in person or via a designated individual on Thursday, September 11th  2pm-4pm  at the Utah Olympic Oval Timing Deck.

    Athletes participating in the Time Trials on Thursday will receive their transponders and helmet covers in the heat box 1 hour before start of races (10am)

    Random equipment checks will be performed throughout the weekend.

    No deposit will be required.

    Not returned transponders will be charged to the skater at $100/unit.

    Not returned helmet covers will be charged to the skater at $20/cover.


    Spectators:

    All athletes will receive two complimentary tickets per day for the event upon check-in. Additional tickets can be purchased during the registration process or ate the Oval front desk for $10/day.  NO ticket is required for Thursday, September 11th Time Trials.

    Athlete Processing:

    For athletes who qualify for international travel as part of the World Tour Team, Fall Junior World Cup Team please be prepared to undergo Team Processing after conclusion of event. Plan approx. 1 hour to complete all paperwork, visa applications (if applicable), and apparel fitting (if applicable).

    Please bring:

    • Current Passport
    • If under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian might be required to sign
    • Your cut proof under suit and helmet for safety check
