August 16-17 Short Track Speed Skating Camp

with 2018 & 2022 Olympian, Ryan Pivirotto

Come join us at the prestigious Detroit Skating Club (DSC) in Bloomfield Twp., Michigan, where Ryan Pivirotto will help hone your speed skating skills both on and off ice. He will be assisted by USS Level 1 coach, Judy Smouter, M.Ed. in exercise physiology plus additional coaches. The DSC has three rinks, an extensive weight training room, fitness studio and a health-conscious ice sports cafe.

We are opening the camp up to 20 experienced skaters – Group A (skate a 500m in less than a minute) and 20 Group B skaters (500m time greater than 1 minute). The ability of doing cross-overs is highly recommended for Group B. Register early to ensure a spot in this comprehensive training and educational camp.

Camp Objectives

Skaters will learn what improvements can be made on their skating technique and how to build sports specific strength, flexibility, balance and power to facilitate athletic development. This will be achieved by four ice sessions for both Group A and Group B, dryland training, sessions on strength training basics, circuit training, stretching and yoga for speed skaters. Speed training, racing strategy and fun mock races will be practiced by all skaters.
Critical conversations will be conducted to improve skaters’ understanding of the importance of nutrition for performance, skate care in regards to proper sharpening techniques and blade placement, and off-season training ideas.
Being an Olympic year, Ryan and other elite athletes will be telling inspirational stories about their journey to the top followed by Q & A and photos with Ryan and others.
