Lake Placid holds Short Track Age Group Nationals

by US Speedskating

From April 1-3, 2022 in Lake Placid, New York, skaters of all ages came together to put their season’s best work to strive to the next level of skating during Short Track Age Group Nationals.

In tandem with this event, the second Future of Speed Camp was held where 24 U-11 skaters from around the region came out to put their physical abilities to the test! Skaters were given the opportunity to learn from the highest level of skaters in the country as two-time Olympian Ryan Pivirotto was there to coach alongside Olympic Gold Medalist Linlin Sun and USS Talent Development Coordinator, Chris Needham.

Over 140 athletes were able to compete from clubs and programs representing Bay State, Potomac, Pinnacle, Saratoga, Wisconsin, Colorado Gold and others. Among those competing were 2022 Olympian Eunice Lee who set two National Records. Over the course of the three-day competition, skaters broke 10 records in different age groups!

The weekend was filled with great racing,” commented Events & Membership Director, Marion Wohlrab, “it is great to see what skaters we have coming up through the skating pipeline. Thank you to the skaters, ORDA and the organizing committee on a great event!
