US Speedskating Announces Junior Grand Champion & Regional Champions
Grand Champion
Last weekend, US Speedskating crowned the first ever Grand Champion, Carolyn Tegtmeier.
This title celebrates all around excellence in speed skating, rewarding the top athletes who compete in both Long and Short Track Age Group Nationals. To earn this title you must finish in the top 5 of both events and there must be at least 5 competitors in the age category.
"This award might not be given away yearly, but it is important to recognize those who demonstrate excellence in both disciplines," said Chris Needham, Director of Development and Partnerships at USS.
Carolyn Tegtmeier was awarded this title after finishing 2nd in the Junior C category at the Short Track Age Group Nationals in New Jersey and finishing 2nd in Long Track Age Group Nationals in Roseville earlier this year. Carolyn trains with the Northbrook Speedskating Club in Illinois.
“Being competitive in both disciplines is no small feat and this award is a testament of Carolyn’s hard work, determination and adaptability,” said Andrea Do-Duc, Short Track Program Director.

"These series track points over the racing season from multiple competitions, the winners are a great representation of hard work and dedication," said Chris Needham, Director of Development and Partnerships at USS.
