FIRST-TIME CLUB APPLICATION PROCESS

If you are a new direct club in development, and would like to apply to become an officially sanctioned club by USS for the upcoming skating season, application materials listed below will be due by July 1st each year.  Once received, your application will be submitted for further review to the USS Membership & Development Task Force. US Speedskating (USS) is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by the membership of USS, this board has adopted this model as the acceptable form of governance for its sanctioned clubs. Clubs wishing to become sanctioned by USS must have by-laws that establish the rules for the election of officers and/or board members by the Club's membership and that explicitly state the qualifications and terms of the elected officials.

To complete your application by July 1st, please submit the following to the USS National Office by email to
membership@usspeedskating.org:

  1. Direct Club Application (form below) - include the $100 Direct Club Fee (can mail in a check)
  2. Coaches Roster (form below) - must have at least one Certified Level 1 Coach to be sanctioned 
  3. Officials Roster (form below) 
  4. Copy of bylaws (sample Bylaws and Waiver below) 
  5. Most recent meeting minutes of Club Board (template below)

 

All Club/Association Officers (in the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer) are required to be members of USS within 30 days of association or club renewal/approval.

CLUB AND ASSOCIATION RENEWALS  

*Deadline August 31st each year

For US Speedskating associations and clubs renewing for the upcoming skating season the deadline for submission of renewal applications & fees will be due July 1st each year. Please note that ALL of the materials below are required on an annual basis for complete membership renewal. To complete renewal by July 1st, please login to your USS account and select your Club/Association profile. If you are unable to select the applicable profile please submit a support ticket via your USS account for assistance. This can be found on the left-hand side or your screen when logged-in under Support. You will need to be listed as the Club/Association Main Contact and/or President in order to renew. 

Complete the following on the Club/Association Account in order to have a valid current membership:

  1. Add current Club/Association Officials to the profile
  2. Add current Club Coaches to the profile
  3. Fill in all other required profile information 
  4. Upload a Club Officials Roster (form below)
  5. Purchase the applicable membership $100 Direct Club Fee or $300 Association Fee (if you are a Club under an Association USS will renew you upon payment from your Association)
  6. Upload a copy of the Club/Association bylaws under documents (only required if any changes have been made since last season)
  7. Upload a copy of the most recent meeting minutes of the Club Board or Association Board under documents (template below)


If you are a previously sanctioned club that will no longer be active in the upcoming season, please notify USS by emailing membership@usspeedskating.org
