Elite and Future of Speed Camps with Olympians

June 24-25. 2023 784 River Rd, Shelton CT
6 hours of ice + 2 dryland sessions, with focus on passing, relays and race strategy. A Group: NEST Time standards. B Group 2:00/1000m or 1:00/500m or better (if you are close, please contact us ctspeedskating@gmail.com). Limit 20 skaters to ensure individual attention.
There will be two groups, an elite group and a "future of speed" group. These groups will have separate ice sessions, 6 hours of ice for each group + dryland. Last year we hosted the elite camp and had many younger skaters who did not yet meet the time standard express interest. So we are excited to bring Kristen back and expand our coaching roster by adding Julie and Chris!
Kristen Santos (2022 Olympian and CTSS alum) will coach just like last year, but new for this year is Julie Letai (also a 2022 Olympian) will join us to coach as will Chris Needham, US Speedskating's talent development coordinator. Also on the ice will be CTSS head coach Dave Moneypenny (Kristen's coach growing up) and Jonathan Winter (CTSS assistant).
Elite should be 1:00/500m or better. For the future of speed camp, we welcome our younger but experienced speed skaters as well as those interested in trying the sport who already have strong skating experience. Contact us if you have questions about group eligibility. Since camps are run at the same time, we can move skaters between groups as needed to ensure everyone has a quality experience.
