Sheila Young Ochowicz

Sheila was born October 14, 1950.  She was a National Long Track Champion as a senior in 1970 and 1971 and won the title of World Sprint Champion in 1973, 1975 and 1976. As a member of the 1976 U.S. Olympic team she won the gold medal in the 500m, silver in the 1500m, and bronze in the 1000m in Innsbruck, Austria. She then went on to be the only athlete to win World Championships in two sports in the same year as she was named the World Track Cycling Sprint Champion in 1973, 1976 and 1981. She was inducted to the National Speedskating Hall of Fame on May 18, 1991 in Southgate, Michigan.
