Richard "Terry" McDermott

Richard was born September 20, 1940. He won the gold medal in the 500m of the 1964 Olympic and took the silver medal in the same event in 1968. He also skated to victory as the National and North American Indoor Champion and set two National Outdoor records. Since his retirement he has been a steadfast promoter of the sport and has served as an officer in USISA. Richard was inducted to the National Speedskating Hall of Fame on June 4, 1977 in Bay City, Michigan.
