Philip O. Krumm

Philip was born October 9, 1906. He worked incredibly hard for the recognition of achievements in Olympic style skating in the United States. Through his efforts he accomplished financing and construction of the first 400 meter artificial ice Olympic track in the United States. Paired with this, he was an organizer and served as the president of the United States International Skating Association. Through his position, he successfully established the World Sprint Championships and then later went on to serve as president of U.S. Olympic Committee from 1973-1977. In 1987, he was awarded the silver Olympic order of merit. He was inducted to the National Speedskating Hall of Fame on May 12, 1973 in Rosemont, Illinois.
