Jefferson City Speedskating Club is excited to host our 28th Annual Capital City Speedskating Championships on

Saturday, December 7, 2024! This meet is hosted by the Jefferson City Speedskating Club and is sanctioned by US

Speedskating. The Jefferson City Parks and Recreation Department is a co-sponsor of the meet.

The Capital City Speedskating Championships will be conducted as an Ability Meet. In this format, all skaters will be grouped

by ability for racing based on times and age provided on their entry form. All times, rankings, and awards will only be

determined within each ability group. Most skaters should anticipate participating in six races.

Preliminary heats with A and B Finals will be conducted when possible. Points will be awarded within an ability group based on the lowest finals time in a

distance in respective A and B finals. If multiple skaters have the same cumulative number of points after racing is concluded

ties will be broken by the better finish of the first distance skated for the ability group. Awards will be presented for each

ability group and distance raced. A skater must race all distances for an overall award, unless ill. Helmet covers will be issued.

Relays will be held at end of meet, time permitting.

● Check-In Time: 7:30am – 8:30am

● Warm Up: 8:25am (Age 11 and older) 8:40am (Age 10 and younger)

● Racing Time: 9:10am - 1:00 pm (estimated end time)

Skater Requirements: Skater must be a current member of U.S. Speedskating. Skaters must wear hard-shell helmet, neck guard, shin

guards, gloves, full-length sleeves, and pants that fully cover arms and legs. Eye protection, safety glasses recommended. Skater

must have primary medical/accident health insurance.

Facility: Double safety padding will be placed in the curves coming out of turns. The Washington Park Ice Arena has an 85-foot wide

by 200 feet long ice sheet containing the 111.12-meter oval track. Concessions will be available. The phone number for the arena is
