2025 Franklin Park Barrell Buster

2025 Barrel Buster Registration is now open. 

For the very first time, Franklin Park Speed Skating Club will host a 2 day event on Saturday/Sunday November 8 and 9, 2025.  Each day will be held as a separate event. 

Please join us for a wonderful two days of short track skating at the fantastic Franklin Park Ice Arena. 

Saturday- Sunday, November 8-9, 2025

The Franklin Park “Barrel Buster” is an Ability meet hosted by Franklin Park Speed Skating Club and sanctioned by US Speed Skating and the Amateur Skating Association of Illinois (ASAI).

This is a 2-Days event, each day is a separate event. 

Track: 111.12 meters on an 85' X 200' Ice surface

Fees:

$140 for both days / $130 for 2^nd Skater / $120 for 3^rd skater / $110 for the 4^th skater

Saturday Schedule:

11:00 am - 12:00 pm Check-In

12:00 pm - 12:30 pm Mat Set up

12:30 pm - 1:00 pm Warm Up

1:00 pm - 1:15 pm Ice resurface

1:30 pm -  5:45 pm Racing Begins

6:00 pm We need to be completely off the ice by 6 pm.

Sunday Schedule:

6:50 - 7:30 am Mat Set up

7:00 - 7:30 am Check-in

7:45 - 8:30 am Warm-up for skaters

8:45 - 9:00 am Ice resurface

9:00 - 1:15 pm Races

1:30 pm We need to be completely off the ice by 1:30pm.

These meets are ABILITY MEETS:

All ages, experience and skill levels are welcome. All skaters race in a heat and a final in each distance, time permitting. Skaters will be grouped by speed, ability and size to create full heats of competitive races to make the racing fun and beneficial. Organizers reserve the right to change the program, refuse any entry, and/or make/create/combine/change groups, based on the number of skaters and/or time constraints.

PLEASE NOTE – EMT’s will not be on-site at the rink. In the event someone requires medical attention, 911 will be called. A Franklin Park Fire Department Paramedic Squad is located approximately 1/2 mile from the rink.
