Keith Bryant named new CEO of US Speedskating

Kearns, UT – US Speedskating, the governing body for the sport of speed skating in the United States, announces the appointment of Keith Bryant as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2026. Bryant succeeds Ted Morris, who held the position for 13 years and ushered in an era of financial and competitive success for the organization.

Bryant is no stranger to the Olympic & Paralympic Movement, having attended eight (8) Olympic Games (3 Winter/5 Summer) and having worked  for the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) for nearly 17 years. 

During his time with the USOPC, Bryant created and administered athlete career, education and life skills programs, launched national Olympic & Paralympic Day initiatives, created and administered the Team USA Ambassador Program, managed community relations, hired the first-ever USOPC archivist, provided oversight to the U.S. Olympians and Paralympians Association, and served as Village Press Officer for four U.S. Olympic Teams.

“Being able to join an organization and sport that inspired me to enter the Olympic Movement and has played such a large part of my career journey is a dream come true,” said Bryant.  “I am grateful to the very accomplished USS Board for this amazing opportunity and want to recognize the great work of my friend, Ted Morris, who has so successfully led the organization for the last 13 years.”

Previous to his appointment, Bryant led USA Judo for 8.5 years, overseeing all operations to promote the sport of judo in the United States, successfully growing membership, event participation, and revenue. 

During his tenure, the organization migrated to a new membership database, created a new competition management system, and implemented first-of-their kind programs including the Police Professionals and PAL (P3) law enforcement combatives program and the Healthy Judo LA program.  Also, under Bryant’s direction, USA Judo launched one of the most successful NGB PlayLA Programs, sponsored by LA2028 and the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department (LARAP), where more than 8,000 LA-area youth were introduced to judo in 23 LARAP recreation centers. Additionally, Bryant led negotiations to partner with the U.S. Performance Center in launching USA Judo’s first-ever National Resident Training Team in Charlotte, NC.

“Our board is confident in Keith Bryant’s ability to take the reins and lead US Speedskating into the future,” says US Speedskating Board President Mike Plant, 1980 Olympian and CEO of the Atlanta Braves. “He brings the right blend of integrity, vision and passion for Olympic sport that this organization requires.”

His appointment marks a pivotal step in US Speedskating’s long-term strategy leading into the 2034 Winter Olympic Games returning to Salt Lake City, Utah.

“It’s a very exciting time for USS coming off a successful Games in Milan and having two US-Based Olympic Games in the next eight years, including the 2034 Games in Salt Lake City,” says Bryant. “I am honored and humbled to lead USS into its next chapters.”

USS launched a nationwide search for a new CEO in March after Morris announced his plan to step down. The search was led by the USS board-appointed committee of Board Chair Mark Carleton, Treasurer Rusty Smith, Athlete Representatives Brittany Bowe and Conor McDermott-Mostowy, BOD members Mike Plant and Deb Wheelock. In collaboration with The Grant Partners Executive Search Firm (Atlanta, GA), the group vetted candidates for three months, with the full board appointing Bryant as the new CEO.
