US Speedskating Saddened by the Loss of Longtime Supporter Shirley Yates

US Speedskating is saddened by the loss of Shirley Yates. Shirley was a dedicated supporter of our sport and athletes. She was the national secretary of the former ASU (Amateur Speedskating Union) for 18 years and served as a Chief Judge at many national competitions for decades. She was inducted into the Speedskating Hall of Fame in 2000. We will continue to honor Shirley’s heritage throughout our entire organization. Our deepest condolences to her husband Jim and her family. She will be dearly missed.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Erickson-Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet, MI (906-337-4600) www. ericksoncrowley.com. Condolences can be sent to Jim Yates at 4144 Ridge Rd. #10, New Stevensville, MI 49127.
