Stride & Glide With an Olympian on 8/14
KEARNS, UT - US Speedskating and the Utah Olympic Oval have teamed up to launch the Stride & Glide 5k Run, Skate Clinic and Health Expo on August 14, 2010 at the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns, UT. Participants of all ages are invited to run a fun 5k course with an Olympian. Following the run, runners can trade their running shoes for a pair of skates to participate in a learn-to speed skate clinic taught by US Speedskating Olympians and National Team members on the “Fastest Ice on Earth” at the Oval, site of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
An open skate session and health expo, featuring fun activities and healthy living tips and products for the whole family, will follow the skate clinic. Athletes will also be on hand for an autograph and photo session at the Oval. Proceeds from the event will benefit US Speedskating and the Utah Olympic Oval, two non-profit organizations, to support the development of introductory skating programs.
“I’m looking forward to a fun 5k run with our fans and supporters,” said 2002 Olympic Speedskating Gold Medalist Derek Parra. “It will also be fun to share the ice, and our sport with fans.”
Registration is now open and registration forms are available online at www.usspeedskating.org, or at the Utah Olympic Oval. On-line registration closes on August 11, 2010. Race day registration is available from 6-7:30am. For more information, please call 801-417-5360 or visit www.usspeedskating.org
