2010 American Cup Long Track Series Wraps Up at the Utah Olympic Oval
KEARNS, Utah (March 14, 2010) Some of the best long track speedskaters from around the United States and from as far away as Great Britain, Finland, and Sweden gathered in Salt Lake City over the weekend for the final event in the 2010 American Cup Long Track Series. The American Cup Final featured three days of high quality competition between some up and coming long trackers.
On the mens side, Parker Vance of Kearns, Utah and Mike Blumel (Woodbury, MN) traded wins in the weekend's two 500m events. The 1000m and 1500m Harry Vogel (North Carolina). The 5000m and 10,000m were both dominated by Patrick Meek (St.Louis, MO)
On the ladies side, Kelly Gunther (Clinton Township, OH) won the first of two 500 meter races with Ericka Hawke (West Allis, WI) taking the second. The 1000m was won by Netanya Mintz (Chicago,IL) while Leah Lambert (Delafield, WI) took the 1500m. In the 3000m and 5000m it was Briana Kramer (High Point, N.C.) dominating both events.
In addition to this weekend's champions, American Cup Long Track Series Champions were crowned. The following is a list of the champions in each distance:
