US Speedskating Coaching Requirements

 *Must be at least 16 years of age to become a coach*

Level 1

• Level 1 exam passed

• 25 hours of coaching

• Concussion awareness course http://preventingconcussions.org

• 10 lessons plans submitted

• ASEP sports safety course http://www.asep.com/asep_content/org/USS.cfm or ARC sports safety course

• Attend a competition

• Signed ethics agreement returned to USS

• Background check www.ncsisafe.com reg. # 82331291

• Level 1 fully certified

 

Level one must be completed in one year.

 

Level 2

• Home class exam

• Practical 75 hours

• ASEP sports safety course http://www.asep.com/asep_content/org/USS.cfm or ARC sports safety course

• Concussion awareness course http://preventingconcussions.org

• 10 lessons plans submitted

• Practical evaluation completed

• Camp attendance (2 or more days)

• Coach 2 competitions

• Background check www.ncsisafe.com reg # 82331291

• Signed ethics agreements and returned to USS

• Level 2 fully certified

 

Level 2 must be completed in 2 years from the date of the Level 2 clinic.

 

Level 3

• Home class exam

• Practical one year

• ASEP sports safety course http://www.asep.com/asep_content/org/USS.cfm or ARC sports safety course

• Concussion awareness course http://preventingconcussions.org

• Submit 1 year training plan

• Practical evaluation completed

• Coach 4 competitions

• Camp attendance (2 or more days)

• Weight training evaluation

• Background check www.ncsisafe.com reg # 82331291

• Signed ethics agreements and returned to USS

• Conduct a level 1 or level 2 coaching course

• Level 3 fully certified

 

Level 3 must be completed in 2 years from the date of the Level 3 clinic.
